BASKETBALL TIME AGAIN

Well, it's actually one of my favourite seasons of the year! Basketball season and I say season because with two kids playing we spend a lot of time in the bleachers watching basketball and I love it. Both Rebecca and Mitchell spend a lot of time practising and they play hard. I'm grateful for their coaches who work hard with them. I keep taking pictures and get a few that I like here and there…the lighting is always bad and my camera doesn't have very good indoor sports capabilities. What was exciting tonight was that one of the Daily News photographers was there,  so hopefully they took a good picture of the game. I will try to post it, for now here are a few from Mitchell's games last weekend…I have only been able to see about 10 minutes of Rebecca's but will work on getting some of hers. Next week is the Fulton Cup at TRU and both kids will be playing in that so that should be fun…with way better lighting!!

BASKETBALL CHAMPS

Mitchell's team, the Grade 8 Brocklehurst Broncs not only won the city championships this year but were able to attend a provincial tournament in Pitt Meadows where they placed 15th. We were proud of their team and how hard they worked. It's been fun to be a "basketball" Mom and watch 4 of my kids play basketball and I have to admit it's one of my favourite sports to watch. It's always fast paced and every year they seem to get better. Now that Mitchell is playing I'm seeing a definite difference in the level of play between boys and girls at this age! I'm also thankful for all the wonderful team skills he has been learning because this is such a good group of boys!!

When I read that Jana Morton was doing an All Star Graphics class, I signed up right away! I'm happy to be using all of my sports pictures in a new way!! Look for some more of these coming.....

Grade 8 Brocklehurst Secondary Student Speakers!

Rebecca and Tatiana Stone put together a speech to give at the school board presentation held at Brock last Tuesday. School District 73 wants to change Brock and Norkam making them a middle school and high school. The girls are concerned as to how they are going to be able to do this in regards to all the sports teams when none of the other schools in town will be changed. We were so proud of them, they were the youngest ones there and they both got up and spoke clearly, concisely and brought up some good points. It was pretty brave of them and I think this opportunity gives them more confidence. This was after Rebecca wrote a letter that was published in the Saturday Daily News that concerned the same issues.

After they had to go and give their favourite teacher (Mrs.Cowden who taught them Grade 3 at Parkcrest) a hug and hello.
