CULTURED IMAGE POSTER

Well I can't believe that the end of a semester is here! I finished my last class on Friday and am just finishing up my two other projects this weekend. I thought I would post another poster that was an assignment for one of my classes. We were asked to combine image and type to come up with a poster that used Adobe Photoshop in our Graphic Design course.

I was really happy with this one because I was able to use my Melodie's missionary pictures and put them into large type letters. I then used one of our pictures of Macchu Picchu, made it BW and reduced the opacity and placed it behind the letters. Because we were asked to use certain words, I chose the word CULTURE and added some extra words around the letters to represent the differences in culture. I just hope Melodie is as happy as I am with it….I'm looking forward to showing it to her because she will have some good ideas for it!

MELODIE IN PERU

I had so much fun with this page and it was much easier to put together than I thought! I used the contact sheet option in PS CS3 to make a picture grid and then made it into a wall. This was lesson 4 in Jana Morton's Blueprints: Angles of Photoshop. I knew it would work really well with all of the pictures we took in Peru.

This page brings back so many memories of our trip to Peru to bring back Melodie from her mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Thank goodness we had her as an interpreter or we would have been so lost although Don did quite well! He really practised his Spanish before we left. It was definitely the adventure of a life time! We learned so much and met so many wonderful people. It was pretty amazing to experience just a little of what "Hermana Mathieson" went through in the 18 months she was gone!

Time goes so fast, crazy to think that she is now home and happily married to her sweetheart Kevin Smith. We are so grateful for the work she did but so happy to have her home!!

MISSIONARY HOME

I was happy to be at the airport when Elder David Armstrong came home from the Ukraine after serving a 2 year mission. His family were waiting anxiously to see the plane touch down and then it was hugs and tears of joy. Having been through this with Melodie a few months ago...I know there is such a feeling of relief, love, joy and amazement as you see this beloved son or daughter come home.

They will have experienced things you can never imagine and it's probably best that you don't know some of it. They will have been through rejection, heartache and lonesomeness but they will have survived to become a stronger person. They will have grown in character, in perseverance, in knowledge and in love. They will have learned to love the people in the country they have served in and will miss them dearly. They will have become disciples of Christ, because they will have taught about Him, prayed to Him and turned their lives over to Him many, many times. They are...missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Elder Armstrong home from the Ukraine!
A very happy Mom and family!

A little sister who is not so little anymore.

So happy to have their David home safe and sound although a little thinner.

Can still pick up his best friends off the floor!
Wonder what these three will be up to now? Sorry no rooming together says Vanessa!

The welcoming home committee at the airport!

Elder David Armstrong ... welcome home!
