Summer is Slipping Away

Well the summer is going fast again! We spent the afternoon in the pool yesterday.....had a bunch of teenagers over so that kept it loud and fun! I like to get in if its really hot out and if the pool is warm enough........I know really picky but I don't like a cold pool and I don't like being cold getting out, sound pretty spoiled don't I!! As you can see the kids have no such reservations, they just love it.........cold or hot. One of the things I love about Don is that he just gets right in there and loves to be with the kids! He had yesterday off work so he was right in the pool, cannonballing, back diving and having a ton of fun with the kids....... and they are just right there with him. I had fun trying to take action shots but most of them turned out blurry, got a few fun ones though........
Kathy is visiting right now, so will have to get some pictures! She took us to Minos (wonderful Greek restaurant) and The Bourne Ultimatum last night......
And the best part of the summer was.........you guessed it, reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows together as a family, of course some of us cheated and read ahead but we won't name names but ........still, we all LOVED the book. We will miss Harry but look forward to reading about him all over again........

Pool Up

We had such a beautiful sunny Saturday!!!.......and best of all we were all home, well most of the time. Rebecca had a birthday party to go to and Melodie went to work for a few hours but other than that we were all home and we opened the pool!!! It was lots of work as Don can attest to! We have to skim off all the leaves and then pump all the water off. Then we have to take off all the water bags and boards holding the cover down and then pull the whole cover off, most years this is a huge task that takes all 6 or 7 of us because there is usually still water on it and it is so big and cumbersome and we don't want any of it in the pool beneath.......but this year the new cover was so light and had so little water that that part took about 5 minutes, couldn't believe it!
It was so wonderful to be out soaking up the sun! I am so happy to see the blue pool out of my kitchen window, it is usually grey for 6 months of the year so I sure like to see it blue.
Mitchell as you can see is pretty anxious to try it out but it still needs work, chemicals, cleaning, etc.........and its a touch cold, not that that would stop him.

It's definitely fall here in BC, which means the trees are turning yellow and falling and its cold in the morning and at night but we still get some pretty warm afternoons. The saddest sight for me is looking out the window above my sink and seeing our pool gray because its covered, the summer is always so bright because its a nice fun blue. I am doing lunch duty at the school and have to admit, sure like being outside during that hour just taking in the last of the sunshiny days! The field is full of busy, happy little soccer players. Because its cooler I have to push myself outside but once I'm out there I sure like it....... but I'm usually just hopping in and out of the van. Halloween is coming and still need to get candy, if I get it too early it just disappears!...and I wish I could say it's the kids......have a happy October!
