NORKAM JUNIOR BOYS MAKE PROVINCIALS

We had an exciting weekend in Langley with our Norkam Junior Boys who were able to play in the Provincial Basketball Tournament! Considering that we only went down with 8 players, 7 of whom could play, we were happy with how hard they worked! They didn't get a lot of rest time and we had a couple of hurt ankles although our boys played through them. We ended up playing 5 teams, 2 games on Wednesday and 1 every day after that and we won 2 and lost 3. But the team had a wonderful banquet, went to the Fun Castle in Abbotsford, swam in the hotel pool every day and pretty much ate all the fries that Red Robin would give them so they sure had fun! I'm especially grateful for their 3 coaches, Mantej, Bryan and George who have spent many hours practising and helping them with their game this year. It was a wonderful basketball season full of memories... Here are some highlights of the 5 games...the Langley Event Centre was fun to take pictures in!

NO MORE KAMLOOPS DAILY NEWS

I have been upset all day thinking about not having our Daily News paper anymore!! I love our daily paper and can't believe Glacier Media just shut them down in a week.

My heart goes out to all those people that lost their jobs this week. We delivered that paper for 12 years…..read it, wrote in it, and looked for our kids in it. It has been a part of our life Don and I, for 12 years as we read the news and funnies and did the mixed up word scramble and crosswords together. I've been grateful for the letters of mine that they've printed and the sports stories that I've sent in.

I do read news online occasionally, but nothing will replace the local newspaper in my hands in the morning. I loved the Daily News. I'm in deep mourning today…..

ENGAGEMENT PICTURES... LAMBS/MELCHINS

I was so happy to be able to take Alyssa and Brant's engagement pictures last December when they were in town for Alyssa's brother's wedding. They were a wonderful couple to work with, fun, happy and definitely in love which made it easy. I use Aperture to process my pictures and  Photoshop CS3 to work with them.  I've also included several shots that have CoffeeShop BW Actions on them.

Alyssa is the daughter of some of our best friends and she has grown up with my children! I remember her as a baby, a toddler and then as a young woman and now she will be getting married this month. Time goes so fast! This is why I love to take pictures...they freeze time for a few minutes so we can remember the happy times, the loving times and the times we do not want to forget. They capture who we are at this brief moment!

Here are a beautiful couple in love and starry eyed...my favourite pictures to take!

ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS...KICIA/PIERSON

BRYCE AND JAYMIE KICIA

Thought I would put up a few engagement pictures that I took last Saturday on my blog because it's a little more private than facebook. Jaymie, my daughter's sister-in-law asked me to take their wedding pictures for this October! My first response was are you kidding....not me, I like being the second camera, I do not like being the head honcho in anything frankly! I'm pretty much good at being a counselor (in my church work) but not being the last one responsible. It really worried me all night, I don't like saying NO but I did not feel confident and for a wedding, one of the most important days of a girls life!! I asked her if I could think about it for a few days. Luckily, my Vanessa phoned me the next morning and talked me into it...she told me I take wonderful pictures and that she would totally help me, would be my photo assistant! That helped me feel better, so I reluctantly agreed. I'm still super nervous about it but I did tell them they are not getting a professional photographer. I also talked to Deanne (Jaymie's mother) and we decided that I would do an engagement shoot to at least get a feel for it.

So I started thrift store hunting, found a cute chair that I painted pink and a huge picture frame (had Don take all the hardware and the picture and glass out) for props. I also had Jaymie bring a huge lollipop since she has a pink/ candy sort of theme. I was worried about the light that morning but we found a bridge and we took lots of pictures under it. Couldn't believe when I got home that in about an hour and a half we had almost 300 pictures so lots to choose from.

So here are some of the pictures that I took:

I was happy with how quickly my Mac made it possible to tag them and sort through them. I also happily added some filters to them.
Bryce and Jaymie were sure fun to work with and didn't once complain about about all the kissing I asked them to do!!
